Manus Halligan will be performing in Anu’s production of Staging the Treaty.
ANU Productions, this winter, will bring to life one of the most significant events in Irish history – the Treaty Debates.
Poet and writer Theo Dorgan has spent almost 3 years working with the original documents, fearlessly and scrupulously replaying the debates in the words of those who participated exploring both the historical and contemporary relevance of the debate. Together with Louise Lowe and ANU Productions they will present a dynamic; long form and durational performance built directly from verbatim text and performed by some of Ireland’s leading cast.
Directed by Louise Lowe this event will run in two parts over 2 days, on 22 December 2021 and 7 January 2022 for live (in person) audiences at Earlsfort Terrace, in association with the National Concert Hall.
Digital audiences will also be invited to experience a durational streamed broadcast of the live performance as it unfolds. For both live and digital audiences it will be apparent just how pertinent and these debates feel today, still. The live stream will be filmed by Tiny Ark (Courage; Other Voices).
This production is supported by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media, as part of the Decade of Centenaries Programme 2012-2023.
