Jack Walsh has just finished a very successful run of his self penned One Person Show, WELCOME TO IRELAND, Meltdown of an Irish Tour Guide in which he plays 40 characters at the Viking Theatre, Glor, Ennis, St. John’s Listowel, and Cork Arts Theatre. Previous runs were at the Project Arts Centre plus Civic and Axis Theatres.
He played Hallur Freymundur in the Feature The Northman and can be seen in Kin, Vikings – Valhalla Season 2 on Netflix, and re runs of Killinaskully (Principal) on RTE1.
Other credits include, Mr Cartmell in Dispensary of Death, the award winning Bernard Dunne Mythical Heroes in which he played 6 different characters in 6 separate Episodes. The Irish Theologian John Scottus in Vikings, Jack Taylor, Killinaskully, Penny Dreadful, Ripper Street, Moonfleet, Titanic – Blood and Steel, The Escapist, Fair City, Cumann Na mBan and Tom Clarke in TG4’s Wrecking the Rising.
Jack has performed on almost every Irish stage and favourite roles include Michael Feeney in Arrah na Pogue at the Abbey Theatre, Gregor Samsa in Metamorphosis and the title role in Arturo Ui both at the Lyric Belfast. Bosola in Loose Canon’s The Duchess of Malfi, the transsexual Shannon in Poor Superman both at Project Arts Centre. Pod in The Borrowers at the Helix, Dan Milligan in Puckoon at the Leicester Square Theatre and Irish tour, Jake in a bilingual (Irish/English) version of Stones in His Pockets for Aisling Ghear. The Swineherd in A Full Moon in March in the Yeats International Festival at the Peacock Theatre, and in fairness probably also the chicken he played among other roles in Tarry Flynn (Directed by Conall Morrison), also at the Abbey.
He has toured Ireland four times with Guerilla Days in Ireland (33 weeks), and also played in Barnstorm’s The Ice Child at the Watergate in Kilkenny and Primal a two hander written by Ciarán Collins at the Cork Arts Theatre.
He speaks French and is often cast in roles that require Latin which he loved studying in school.
Jack spent 3 years full time study at the Ecole Internationale de Mimodrame de Paris, Marcel Marceau in mime, dramatic art, clowning, classical and modern dance, fencing and acrobatics. He also performed with Marceau in Italy and was his Guest Teacher at the Opening of his New World Centre for Mime in Ann Arbor Michigan. Jack also worked on object manipulation/ marionette with Nicolas Goeussef of the Philippe Genty company and with New York marrionettist Roman Paska.
